Visual Narrative Project- Kolesa

I used my own photograph as inspiration, however i was inspired by Dr. Seuss' many characters when looking for inspiration for details and colors for my character.

Final Phase-

This piece is a cartoon drawing of a dog. The dog is a character I created based on my own pet. I used colored pencils to represent the bright and varied colors throughout the piece. There's natural colors as well as brighter ones to compliment each other and highlight different important pieces. The dog is the center of attention however there is still a background to give the piece more detail and meaning.

The principal in my piece is contrast. There is contrast between light and dark. As well as between the various colors and the character and the background. This piece is organized by showing off the character but also showing background and a storyline to give the piece more meaning.

The meaning of the story i created was just to bring to life something that means so much to me. I wanted to really bring character and human emotion to the dog. I wanted to not only create the character himself but also give him something fun and creative to be doing.

Overall my personal strengths were finding the right color combinations and distributing the colored pencils thoroughly throughout the page. Along with that i think i gave the character a good amount of personality and emotion in how he looks. My growths were definitely in growing in the art of cartoons as well as color because most projects that i do are made realistically and with pencil.
